About the Event
This session focuses on strengthening the working relationships between communications personnel and field responders—the partners on the other side of the radio—and how those relationships directly shape our effectiveness with the public. Even when we’re working toward the same mission, differing priorities, stress levels, and situational demands can create miscommunication, frustration, and breaks in trust. We’ll explore practical strategies for building rapport, improving clarity, and increasing mutual understanding of each other’s roles so collaboration stays strong when it matters most.
We’ll also discuss implicit bias and related factors that influence perception, decision-making, and tone—both in coworker interactions and in our communication with the communities we serve. Participants will leave with tools to recognize common communication pitfalls, reduce bias-driven misunderstandings, and strengthen teamwork in ways that improve outcomes on the street, in the comms center, and with the public.
This class is open to all law enforcement and emergency communications professionals…
